Description
This super versatile drop-shoulder cardigan features chunky ribbed borders, two pockets on the front and an all-over stockinette stitch. Knitting the Rewind Cardy offers the chance to learn techniques like adding button bands, pockets and buttonholes in a format made for beginners. Like with all &Make designs, the knitter is walked through each step of knitting with illustrations, written instructions, and video tutorials. For someone wanting to knit their first cardigan, this is the perfect project.
Rewind Cardy can be knitted in any &Make yarn and has a separate pattern for each. Choose DK for a light and drapey fabric, Super Bulky for a warm cozy fabric, or Aran for something in the middle. The &Make Aran version also has an added customisation for a fun five-colored cardigan!
This pattern is also available as a kit, that includes the PDF pattern and 7–12 balls of &Make Super Bulky yarn..
Yarn:
The Fibre Co. &Make Super Bulky (100% Highland wool, 80 m (87 yd) per 100 g ball) in shade Peacock Gang – 7 (7, 8, 9, 9) (10, 11, 11, 12) balls.
Construction notes:
The Rewind Cardy is worked flat as one piece seamlessly from the bottom up to the underarm divide where the front and back are then worked separately. The shoulders are shaped using short rows and joined with a Three Needle Cast-Off. Sleeve stitches are picked up and worked in the round top down. The ribbed button band edging is picked up and worked back and forth with some increases worked at the front opening to shape the v-neckline. Lastly, two pockets are knit separately and sewn onto the front of the cardigan.
