Airglow Shawl Kit

The Airglow Shawl is a generously sized triangular shawl designed by Monica Christine with a border of cables along the bottom edge and side edge of the shawl, and a richly textured knit and purl stitch pattern in the main body.

Airglow is a richly textured, cosy shawl with horizontal and vertical cable-panels and a relaxing knit-purl-texture in between. It’s knitted flat from the bottom up: you start on the wide side and decrease your way to the tip. This way, the horizontal cable-panel and the longer rows are done at the beginning, and the rows become shorter and quicker as the shawl grows. Its asymmetrical triangle shape is achieved by working simple decreases at the end of each RS row.

The Airglow Shawl is the ninth pattern from The Almanac Series II, a seasonal guide to knitting with The Fibre Co. yarns.

This yarn is a beautiful blend of English Masham wool, Argentinian mohair and the finest Merino, for classic blend that is warm and strong, creating fabrics with a lustrous finish to be worn daily in this transitional season with love! The fingering/4ply-weight makes this a versatile yarn for warm yet light-weight sweaters and an ideal yarn for shawls and accessories.

The Fibre Co. Cumbria Fingering (60% Merino wool, 30% Masham wool, 10% mohair, 300 m (328 yd) per 100 g hank) in Calluna – 5 hanks. Approx. yardage used 1270 m / 1388 yd

175 cm (68 in) wingspan along top edge and 105 cm (41 in) depth.

Needles and notions required:

• 3.5mm (US 4) 80 cm (32 in) circular needle (or size to obtain gauge)
• Cable needle
• 13 Stitch markers (including two in a unique style or colour for marker A and B)
• Darning needle
