Days of Summer Socks by Bena MacDonald are inspired by-you guessed it–summertime. As a child it meant endless days spent exploring, staying up past bedtime and making memories. Even now, as an adult, summer holds a certain kind of magic, long evenings spent with loved ones enjoying good food and sharing stories. The Days of Summer Socks are designed to capture that magical feeling of stretched out summer days with their cute and fun style. An easy to memorise slip-stitch pattern and an optional ruffle detail make these the perfect project for a summers evening!
These socks are knit top down with a heel flap and gusset construction. The four-row pattern repeat is rhythmic and easy to memorize with an optional cute ruffle to express your style. The perfect socks to take with you on your travels!
This design is a collaboration for The Fibre Co.’s ‘Month of Socks‘ – a celebration of all things sock in June, with a full schedule of classes, loads of new socks designs to inspire and encourage sock knitters.

- 1 hank of Col A and 1 hank of Col B of The Fibre Co. Amble (70% Easy-wash Merino wool, 20% Easy-wash alpaca, 10% recycled nylon, 325 m (355 yd) per 100 g hank)
- Project Bag from The Fibre Co.

Recommended ease:
To find the size that is best for you, measure the circumference around the widest part of the foot and choose a size that will give some negative ease.
You will also need:
- 2.25mm (US 1) needles, your choice of DPNs, 32” circular for magic loop or 9” circular.
- This pattern is not written for a specific way of working in the round.
- You will need a second set of needles in the same size if you wish to add the ruffle.
- Stitch marker
- Darning needle
