About Larksmeadow

Larksmeadow is a wonderfully simple shawl designed by Boo Knits, and it is just as suitable for everyday wear as it is for a bride. Highly adaptable in size, with the ability to work extra garter stitch or extra floral lace, it is easy to make Larksmeadow your own.

From the designer: ‘We are very lucky to have the most fabulous farm near our home. They grow fields of flowers and harvest the petals to use as wedding confetti – very environmentally friendly, sustainable and insect friendly. In the summer, our green and pleasant land is punctuated by fields of red, white and blue (as well as a little pink and lilac) larkspur! No wedding is complete without confetti and it is truly wonderful to be able to use some that is grown on our doorstep.

If confetti is not your thing, and you prefer your petals and flowers in your own garden, then Larkspur makes the most wonderful cut flowers; as an added bonus they quite often self-seed so you will have them for years to come. As a nod to the Confetti Farm, I used a bead mix for my original shawl and applied them randomly (though I confess to ensuring there were never a row of three of the same colour/bead) and used a little more structure for the final two beaded rows.’

• 2 hanks of The Fibre Co. Meadow (40% Merino wool, 25% baby llama, 20% silk, 15% linen, 498 m (545 yd) per 100 g hank)

The photos show the shawl in the shade Lavender. Choose from any shade of Meadow as shown above.

Sizes:

One size

As written for one hank: 179 cm (70.5 in) wide and 41 cm (16 in) deep.
As written plus one extra repeat. Chart 2 and Chart 4: 237.5 cm (93.5 in) wide and 49 cm (19.25 in) deep.

You will also need:

• 3.5mm (US4), 3.75mm (US5) and 4mm (US 6) circular needles about 1m in length
• 550 beads for 1 hank shawl, approx 765 beads for a larger shawl
• Stitch markers
• Blocking pins and mats
• Cro-tat needle or small crochet hook for applying beads as all beads are applied to the stitch as you knit
• Darning needle
