Ochoco Hat Kit

Ochoco Hat is beautiful and cosy, with multiple design options for you to make your own unique head accessory. The unisex hat design features an easy stitch pattern, a double brim, and the added option to make a headband too! The lustrous blend of Masham wool, Merino wool and mohair in our Cumbria yarn makes this a great project for those wanting headwear that brings warmth and luxury to everyday activities.

The hat pattern starts with the folded brim and is then worked up to the crown. You can choose to make a headband or a hat with either a stockinette or a 1×1 ribbed body.

Kit contains:

Yarn:

The Fibre Co. Cumbria (60% Merino wool, 30% Masham wool, 10% mohair, 216 m (236 yd) per 100 g hank).

The hat can be knit in four ways. Hat design options A, B and C all use 2 hanks; 1 hank of MC and 1 hank of CC. Hat option D uses 2 hanks of a single colour.

The headband can be knit in one colour or two colours. A single colour headband uses 1 hank. A two-colour headband requires 2 hanks; 1 hank of MC and 1 hank of CC.

Colours:

The photos show the hats in the shades Eden Valley and White Heather, whilst the headband is shown in the shades Blackbeck and White Heather.

Choose your MC from the first set of colour swatches above titled ‘Select Cumbria Colour’ and your CC from the second set of colour swatches above titled ‘Select Colour 2’. If you want your hat to be all in one colour select the same colour in both sets of swatches.

Finished Circumference (Headband and Hat): 17(19, 21, 23) inches / 43(48.5, 53.5, 58.5) cm. Size is easily adjustable by adding or subtracting 6 sts from cast-on
Depth of Hat: 7.5(8, 8.5, 9) inches / 19(20.5, 21.5, 23) cm
Width of Headband: 3 inches / 7.5 cm

Needles and notions required:

• 3.75mm (US 5) 40 cm (16 in) long circular needle and DPNs
• 4mm (US 6) 40 cm (16 in) long circular needle (main needles)
• Stitch marker
• Darning needle, for weaving in ends

Techniques used:

• Provisional cast-on
• Right and Left Slip Twist Stitches
