Description
The magic of the Pacific Crest Trail is reflected in the gorgeous texture of its namesake shawl. This classic triangular shawl features a wavy cable pattern that emerges on a background of reverse stockinette stitch, framed by narrow columns of knit stitches.
The Pacific Crest Trail Shawl is made in Road to China Light, a sport-weight blend of baby alpaca, camel hair, cashmere, and silk, that lends a gentle halo while maintaining lovely stitch definition. Both charted and written, the pattern offers two size options. With an easy textured stitch and a simple cable that you’ll quickly memorize, this is sure to become one of your all-time favorite projects!
This pattern is also available as a kit, that includes 5–7 hanks of Road to China Light.
Yarn:
The Fibre Co. Road to China Light (65% alpaca, 15% silk, 10% camel, 10% cashmere, 145m (159 yd) per 50 g hank) in shades Grey Pearl – 5 hanks, and Carnelian – 7 hanks.
Construction notes:
This shawl is worked from the top down, with increases at the center and each edge on right-side rows. To aid in following the charts, every row has written instructions provided at the end of the pattern. The top edge is knitted very loosely, specifically the first two stitches at the start of each row. This ensures that the edge will stretch during blocking, preventing it from constraining the rest of the shawl.
